Lake Placid is no stranger to hosting world-class athletic events as host of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. In the equestrian sports arena, the town also delivers one of the nation’s most prestigious equine events with the annual Lake Placid Horse Shows.
Every summer, Lake Placid Horse Shows offer two weeks of equestrian events:
Lake Placid Horse Show from June 27 – July 2
I Love NY Horse Show from July 4 – July 9
A summer highlight for horse loving visitors and locals alike, this event is not to be missed. World class riders and horses participate in championship Hunter and Jumper competition and strive to win almost $550,000 in prize money and awards.
During these exciting two weeks, over 1,000 horses visit the Lake Placid Horse Shows with riders of all levels and age ranges. For those seeking a peek behind the scenes, $1 walking tours given at 11:30 am Wednesday- Friday allow visitors to see the stables and more.
After watching events and seeing the grounds and facilities, many visitors enjoy superb shopping on site. The boutique vendor area is an attraction in itself. Local artists, products, clothing, apparel, and equine-related shops are featured.
